Rising Second and Rising Third Grade
Kadimah
For Second and Third Grade campers, Kadimah is where the days get fuller and the experiences get bigger.
Second and Third Grade campers arrive at camp ready for more—more responsibility, more challenge, and more activities. In Kadimah, campers begin to collaborate more intentionally, solve problems together, and take pride in what they create. Camp still feels playful and fun, but it also starts to feel purposeful.
Campers spend their time rotating through a variety of age-appropriate creative, active, and hands-on—designed to keep them engaged and excited from start to finish. With guidance from trained counselors and specialists, campers build skills, strengthen friendships, and gain confidence as they move through a summer that balances structure, variety, and fun.
Daily Swimming That Builds Skills and Confidence
For Kadimah campers, swimming remains a highlight of the day and swimmers often show noticeable improvement throughout the summer. Campers swim twice daily (weather permitting) in our lap pool which is the perfect way to stay cool and active all summer long.
Our lifeguards lead daily instructional swim using the Red Cross Learn-to-Swim curriculum, a six-level program that teaches water safety along with progressively building aquatic skills for every age.
Campers also enjoy a daily free swim period where counselors join in the fun - splashing, playing games, and connecting with campers in the water.

Creating Something Real: Filmmaking in Kadimah
One of the highlights of the Kadimah experience is our filmmaking program. Campers work together to create their own news-style video projects, taking on roles both in front of and behind the camera.
Through this hands-on process, campers practice:
-
Planning and organization
-
Public speaking and communication
-
Collaboration and compromise
-
Problem-solving and creativity
The focus isn’t on perfection, it’s on the experience of creating something meaningful as a group and seeing it come to life.

Exploration Beyond Camp
During the summer, Kadimah campers participate in one off-site field trip, offering a new environment where campers practice independence, adaptability, and teamwork.
Field trips are chosen to be exciting and age-appropriate, giving campers the opportunity to try something new while still feeling supported by familiar staff and friends. In recent years, trips have included a Lehigh Valley Iron Pigs Baseball Game and Urban Air Adventure and Trampoline Park!

Minors: A Chance to Choose and Try Something New
Three times a week, Kadimah campers participate in Minors, specialty activity sessions that give campers the opportunity to choose from a small selection of focused experiences. These choices add an exciting layer to the camp week, allowing campers to follow an interest, try something new, or spend extra time doing something they already enjoy—all while staying within the structure of the camp day.
In past summers, Minors have included options like basketball, soccer, board games, watercolor painting, Model Magic, cheerleading, rock painting, and imaginative projects like creating a restaurant where campers designed menus and served “customers.” While Minors change from year to year, they consistently give campers a sense of ownership and pride as they explore activities that spark their curiosity and creativity.
